Panic bars, also known as push bars or crash bars, are typically equipped with a bolt or latch and are intended for use in applications where the final exit or fire exit doors are to be used by members of the public who have no prior knowledge of the building and where a panic situation could occur in the event of an emergency.

Panic bars are suitable for a variety of door types and are designed to ensure an easy escape from a building should a speedy evacuation be required. They can also be paired with an outside access device to prevent entry from the outside.

A panic bar or push bar can also be fitted on any door, not simply the emergency exit door. Panic bars work by pushing a bar to release the latch and open the door, and they are also quite secure.

They are ideal for large commercial buildings with a high volume of people entering.
